Description

  • Approximate beads per strand: 150
  • What is it: Chrysoprase, chrysophrase, or chrysoprasus is a gemstone variety of chalcedony (a cryptocrystalline form of silica) that contains a small amount of nickel, which gives the gemstone it's unique color. Its colors can range from a light apple green to a deep forest green. This stone has a mohs hardness between 6 and 7.
  • History: Chrysoprase was used mostly by the Greeks, Roman and Egyptians to make seals, jewelry and other ornamental objects because of its vivid color. According to Magnus, Alexander the Great always wore a girdle into battle that was embellished with chrysoprase.
  • Metaphysical Properties: Chrysoprase is said to open, activate, and charge the heart and sacral chakras, while bringing deep meditative states.
  • Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead
