- What is it: Magnesite is named after the presence of magnesium in its composition. White magnesite is very porous and has the ability to absorb dye to produce almost any color imaginable.
- History: Magnesite dyed a turquoise color has been an inexpensive substitute for turquoise for nearly 100 years. Be cautious when purchasing tumbled opaque stones that are super vibrant. A test to see if a stone is actually dyed magnesite is to use a cotton swab and nail polish remover. If it is magnesite, the color of the stone will rub off.
- Metaphysical Properties: Magnesite encourages deep peace during meditation. When placed on the third eye, this stone enhances visualisation and can inspire great ideas. It opens the crown chakra and the heart chakra.
- Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead
