  • What is it: Larimar is a rare variety of the silicate mineral, pectolite, residing solely in the Dominican Republic. It varies from white to deep blue. These stones were formed in cavities inside the limestone along the island which over time, filled with a variety of minerals (most importantly, pectolite).
  • History: Originally discovered in 1916; however, it was re-discovered by a Dominican man in 1974, taking the first letters of his daughter's name, Larissa, and added it to the Spanish word for the sea, "mar," to create the word Larimar.
  • Metaphysical Properties: Larimar is said to enlighten and heal emotionally, mentally, and in a spiritual way. Said to stimulate the heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras. It represents peace and clarity, and radiates healing and loving energy.
