- What is it: African bone beads typically are made in Ghana, Africa from cow or camel bones. After being carved by hand, they are strung on raffia (dried palm tree leaves) and often worn as is, but many beaders restring these into their beautiful designs and projects.
- Wood: The beads are very smooth and polished to allow them to retain their natural appearance. Wood beads look great with a wide variety of metals, gemstones, shell, and other natural materials. Used often in Mala and traditional jewelry.
- Appearances may vary from bead to bead
