- What is it: Spinel gets its name comes from the Latin word "spinella", which means spine, refering to its pointed crystals. It can be found in many different shades of pink, red, blue, yellow, green, brown, black, and most uncommonly violet and white.
- History: Spinel gemstones are among many famous gemstones, including the "Black Prince's Ruby," the "Timur Ruby" in the British Crown Jewels, and the "Côte de Bretagne" (formerly known as the French Crown Jewels). Transparent red spinels were called spinel-rubies or balas rubies. Before the 18th century, spinels and rubies were both classified as rubies.
- Metaphysical Properties: Spinel is believed to help with energy renewal and rejuvenation. Because of its wide color range, it opens many chakras.
- Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead
