How to Make: Thin 3 Bead Odd Count Peyote Stitch Bracelet

This pattern is a fun challenge to do once you've learned how to do a peyote stitch. In this tutorial you will learn how to not only do an odd count peyote stitch but also do it with only 3 beads per row. This bracelet will be quite tiny and delicate.

Materials Needed:

Delica Size 11 - 034 Light 24K Gold Plated (or any color of your choosing)
Fireline Crystal 4lb (about 4.5 feet but you will end up using less)
14K Gold 3mm 22 Gauge Jump Rings (2)
4.5mm 14K Gold Plated Magnetic Clasp (1)
John James Needle Size 12 (1)
GS-Hypo Cement (Red Tube)

Tools Required:

Needle Nose Pliers (also known as chain nose)

Flat Nose Pliers

Thread Snips

Bead Mat

Instructions on Construction:

1. Thread on a spare bead you have laying around as your stopper bead. I used a spare size 8 seed bead. Wrap your thread through the bead 2-3 times to secure it, do not knot it.

2. Thread on 3 delica beads to your needle

3. Pull the 3 beads down to the stopper bead

4. Thread on 1 delica bead onto your needle, then thread through the middle bead of the 3 you strung on in the previous step.

5. Pull tight and make sure your beads are laid out like the picture above

6. Thread another delica bead onto the needle and thread the needle through the 2 bottom beads as shown above

7. Pull the thread tight and thread through the top right bead like shown above

8. Thread the needle through the bead shown above

9. Add a delica bead onto the needle and thread the needle through the one delica bead shown above

10. thread the needle through the two beads shown above. Reminder to keep pulling everything tight as you go through the steps

11. Thread the needle through the bead shown above

12. Add a delica bead onto your needle and thread it through the opposite end of where the thread is coming from like shown above

13. We will loop through this bead to secure it, thread through like shown above

14. Thread through the 2 delica beads shown above, remember to pull tight!

15. Thread the needle through the bead shown above

16. Now we will get started on creating the bracelet. Add a delica bead to the needle and thread the needle through the top bead shown above

17. Flip the project around so the stopper bead is facing away from you. Add a delica bead to your needle and thread the needle through the bead shown above

18. Flip the project with the stopper bead is facing towards you again, add a bead to your needle, then push the needle through the thread between the two bottom beads shown above. Be careful not to poke yourself with the needle doing this

19. Thread the needle through the bead you just added, pull tight

20. Add a bead to your needle and thread through the delica bead shown above

21. The beginning of your bracelet should look like this. We will now hold the bracelet this way for the rest of of the time, keeping the stopper bead on the bottom of the bracelet / facing you

22. Now that you've learned how to add a bead to your peyote bracelet one-by-one, let's speed up the process by adding 3 beads at a time. Start by adding 3 beads to your needle and then pushing the needle (towards you) through the thread shown above that is connecting the 2 beads at the bottom of your bracelet

*Don't worry if you mess up with these next steps, simply take the needle off the thread and pull the thread through the beads that were strung incorrectly :)

23. Doing your best to hold the beads roughly in place while you thread the needle through the first of the three beads you just added, as shown above

24. Thread the needle through the bead shown above, pulling tight

25. Thread the needle through the bead shown above

26. The row you just completed should look like the picture above

27.On to the next row! Repeat the previous steps by adding 3 beads to your needle then pushing it towards you through the thread between the two bottom right beads (careful not to poke yourself), pull tight!

28. Now let's speed it up a little more, you can come back to this tip later if you want to stick with steps 23 and 24. Holding the beads, thread your needle through the two beads shown above, careful not to tangle or wrap around any thread, remember to pull tight!

29. Thread the needle through the top right bead shown above

30. The finished row should look like this. Continue with repeating steps 27 through 29 until you have reached your desired length, keeping in mind that the clasp will take about 1/2 an inch of length on your bracelet

31. Once you've reached your desired length we will begin to move the thread to where we will attach the bead that will hold the jump ring. Flip the bracelet over, the thread should be coming out towards you, thread the needle through the 2 beads shown above, pull tight

32. Thread the needle through the center bead shown above

33. Add a delica bead on your needle, then thread it through the center bead shown above, looping around with the thread

34. Make sure the bead you just added is laying like this, pull tight, then loop through the bead

35. Loop the needle through the bead shown above to help secure the end delica bead

36. Thread the needle through the bead just below the one you just went through, shown above

37. Push your needle through the threads connecting the bead you just went through and the bead to it's left (careful not to poke yourself). *Pull the thread until there is a little loop (see below)

38. Pull your needle through the loop and pull tight, making sure the knot lands as close as possible to the edge of the bracelet

39. Repeat to secure

40. Finish second knot

41. Carefully, snip the end of the thread as close as you can get to the knot and glue with gs-hypo

42. Flip the bracelet around to where you started and remove the stopper bead. Create a couple over hand knots as close as possible to the edge of the bracelet
