- What is it: Water Buffalo Horn is recovered from the food industry that would otherwise be thrown away. Our manufacturers salvage the horns and artfully turn them into beautiful, exotic pieces.
- What is it: Abalone are a group of small to large marine snails with mother of pearl on the inside. Mother of pearl, also known as Nacre, is an organic and inorganic material produced by select mollusks as an inner shell layer, it also makes up the colorful, iridescent outer coating of pearls.
- History: Throughout history, some cultures placed very little value on pearls and instead placed value on the luminescent mother-of-pearl shells. Before the 19th century, Japanese shell divers would often toss pearls when found. It is said that Polynesian children used pearls as marbles. In the Americas, Abalone was eaten and the shell used as inlay on carved objects made of wood, ivory, and bone.
- Metaphysical Properties: Mother of pearl is said to be a protection stone, by bringing the gentle healing power of the sea. It is believed to be a stress relieving stone as well as relaxing, soothing, and calming. Mother of Pearl encourages imagination, sensitivity, and adaptability.
- Because these are made from natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead.
