Description
- Approximate beads per strand: 40
- What is it: Citrine is a variety of quartz with colors ranging between pale yellow to brown due to ferric (salt) impurities. Visually, it is nearly impossible to differentiate between faceted citrine and yellow topaz, but they do differ in hardness. The name comes from the Latin word citrina, meaning "yellow" and is also the origin of the word. Sometimes, citrine and amethyst can be found together in the same crystal, which is known as ametrine.
- History: Citrine has been used ornamentally for thousands of years to decorate jewelry, weapons, and tools. Later on, in the 17th century, Scottish men used citrine on the handles of daggers and swords for decoration. Some handles have been discovered to be made completely out of the gemstone.
- Metaphysical Properties: It is said that citrine stimulates the brain by strengthening intellect. Believed to encourage motivation, creativity, and self-expression.
- Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead
