  • What is it: Jasper, is a type of quartz and / or chalcedony, which is opaque and usually red, yellow, brown, green, or blue. Patterns in this stone are created during the consolidation process forming flow and depositional patterns in the original silica rich sediment or volcanic ash. Jasper that is weathered over time, usually createsq2 intensely colored superficial rinds.
  • History: The name means "spotted or speckled stone", and is derived from the old French word jaspre and the Latin word iaspidem. Green jasper was used to make bow drills in Mehrarh (Pakistan) between 4000 and 5000 BC. Jasper is known to have been a favorite gem of our ancestors.
  • Metaphysical Properties: Red Jasper carries a strong spiritual grounding vibration, and resonates within the lower three chakras. It creates a strong, grounding connection to the earth.
  • Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead.
