Description
- Approximate beads per strand: 65
- What is it: Jasper, is a type of quartz and / or chalcedony, which is opaque and usually red, yellow, brown, green, or blue. Patterns in this stone are created during the consolidation process forming flow and depositional patterns in the original silica rich sediment or volcanic ash. Jasper that is weathered over time, usually creates intensely colored superficial rinds.
- History: The name means "spotted or speckled stone", and is derived from the old French word jaspre and the Latin word iaspidem. Green jasper was used to make bow drills in Mehrarh (Pakistan) between 4000 and 5000 BC. Jasper is known to have been a favorite gem of our ancestors.
- Metaphysical Properties: Jasper is said to be a stone of grounding and stability, providing comfort and security, strength, and healing. It balances the aura to a level of wholeness and peace, while bringing joy to others.
- Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead.
