Description

  • Approximate beads per strand: 65
  • What is it: These are mixed gemstones of many different types and colors. Each strand contains approximately 9 beads of each gemstone:
  • Red Jasper:
    • What is it: Jasper, is a type of quartz and / or chalcedony, which is opaque and usually red, yellow, brown, green, or blue. Patterns in this stone are created during the consolidation process forming flow and depositional patterns in the original silica rich sediment or volcanic ash. Jasper that is weathered over time, usually creates intensely colored superficial rinds.
    • History: The name means "spotted or speckled stone", and is derived from the old French word jaspre and the Latin word iaspidem. Green jasper was used to make bow drills in Mehrarh (Pakistan) between 4000 and 5000 BC. Jasper is known to have been a favorite gem of our ancestors.
    • Metaphysical Properties: Jasper is said to be a stone of grounding and stability, providing comfort and security, strength, and healing. It balances the aura to a level of wholeness and peace, while bringing joy to others.
  • Honey Jade:
    • What is it: Jade is a variety of the calcium, magnesium, and iron-rich minerals. There are two different mineral species of Jade: Jadeite and nephrite. Jadeite contains blacks, reds, pinks, and violets. While nephrite jade possesses mainly grays and greens (and occasionally yellows, browns or whites - like our white jade).
    • History: Jade has been used in virtually all periods history, especially Chinese history. Jade has a deep significance in Chinese culture as it had been used to make tools, weapons, and jewelry for literally thousands of years. Items made from Jade would signify political power or possibly religious authority.
    • Metaphysical Properties: It believed that Jade has a soothing purity about it, purifying your energy field in a manner that is accepting, loving, and wise.
  • Red Tiger Eye:
    • What is it: Tiger eye is a chatoyant (cats' eye effect) variety of microcystalline quartz. Tiger eye gets it's lustrous appearance from the parallel intergrowth of quartz crystals and altered amphibole fibers that have mostly turned into limonite.
    • History: Tiger eye is a stone that has been used in jewelry since Roman times. Roman soldiers wore it during battle as a symbol of protection. People still believe that wearing tiger eye in their jewelry helps them accomplish their goals and also helps them in making the right decisions.
    • Metaphysical Properties: Many people believe that tiger eye has medicinal properties that assists in lowering blood pressure and problems related to the kidneys.
  • Green Aventurine:
    • What is it: Aventurine is a gemstone variety of quartz prized for it's translucency and sparkly metallic inclusions. These inclusions are typically composed of muscovite mica, which usually results in medium to dark green aventurine stones with a silvery green or blue sheen (but come in a wide range of colors). The metallic inclusions give aventurine a unique sparkling iridescent effect, known as 'aventurescence'.
    • History: The name for Aventurine came from an accidental discovery made by Venetian glass workers during the 18th century. The name "aventurine" was derived from the Italian words "a ventura", which mean "by chance". Goldstone was accidentally made when copper filings spilled into a batch of glass during production. This was the begining of goldstone (artificial aventurine). The name “aventurine” was later given to the natural stone as it resembled this glass.
    • Metaphysical Properties: Aventurine is believed to benefit the thymus gland and nervous system. Considered to balance blood pressure and stimulate the metabolism, lowering cholesterol.
  • Blue Spot Jasper:
    • What is it: Jasper, is a type of quartz and / or chalcedony, which is opaque and usually red, yellow, brown, green, or blue. Patterns in this stone are created during the consolidation process forming flow and depositional patterns in the original silica rich sediment or volcanic ash. Jasper that is weathered over time, usually creates intensely colored superficial rinds.

  • Lapis:
    • What is it: Lapis lazuli, or just lapis, is a deep blue metamorphic rock used as a semi-precious stone that has been prized for thousands of years for its intense color.
    • History: The first known mining for lapis occurred in the Badakhshan Province of northeastern Afghanistan as early as 7000 BC. The lapis was used to make beads, small jewelry items, and small sculptures. These have been found at Neolithic archaeological sites dating back to about 3000 BC in Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Around this time, Lapis lazuli was greatly admired and valued higher than gold. When grounded to a fine powder and added to paint, it created the color Ultramarine Blue, which was used in some of the most beautiful and famous paintings in history.
    • Metaphysical Properties:  Lapis Lazuli is often referred as the “Stone of the Heaven”. Lapis Lazuli is the ancient stone of mental and psychological health.
  • Amethyst:
    • What is it: Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz (SiO2) where the violet color is caused by irradiation or impurities of iron which result in complex crystal lattice substitutions.
    • History: The name comes from the Koine Greek ἀμέθυστος amethystos from ἀ- a-, "not" and μεθύσκω methysko / μεθύω methyo, "intoxicate", a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. In Greek mythology, amethyst was rock crystal dyed purple by the tears of Dionysus, the god of wine and revelry. Ancient Egyptians used the stone as the representative of the zodiac sign of the goat.
    • Metaphysical Properties: Amethyst is believed to be a very powerful and protective crystal, and is a first choice of many metaphysicians. Used in acient times to recover from both physical addictions as well as addictive relationships, it became known as the “Stone of Sobriety”. A natural stress reliever, Amethyst is said to encourage inner strength.
  • Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead.
