- What is it: Tanzanite is a blue and violet gemstone only found in Tanzania, in a very small mining area near the Mirerani Hills.
- History: This gemstone was given the name "tanzanite" by Tiffany & Co. after Tanzania, the country it was discovered in. The scientific name of "blue-violet zoisite" was not thought to be consumer friendly enough by Tiffany's, who introduced it to the market in 1968, so they named it Tanzanite.
- Metaphysical Properties: Tanzanite stimulates the throat chakra, third-eye chakra, and crown chakra. Tanzanite is a stone of transformation that can help remove bad karma.
