  • What is it: American Turquoise was originally discovered by Native Americans over a 1000 years ago. It is known for its beautiful sky blue color and many variations of blue and green.
  • History: The Navajo tool, called a Hohokam hammer, (dating back to 600 a.d.) were used for mining, polishing and finishing the turquoise. Using the hammers and other primitive tools, the Native Americans would cut the turquoise from the rock. The hammers are on display at the Mohave Museum of History and Arts and the Arizona State Museum in Phoenix.
  • Metaphysical Properties: It is believed that Turquoise improves the mental state overall by increasing all of the following positive mental characteristics: serenity, creativity, empathy, positive thinking, sensitivity, intuition, happiness wisdom all of which leads to greater self-realization.
  • Stabilized Turquoise: Natural, Mined Turquoise in it's raw form is very soft and is much like "sidewalk chalk." Since it is not hard enough for jewelry making purposes, it is stabilized. The stabilization process is done with a clear resin to make the stone harder and to achieve a glossy shine, but not to change the color or composition of the stone in any way. These are not dyed, tinted, or color enhanced in any way. They will never fade, bleed, or change in color.
  • What is it: Lapis lazuli, or just lapis, is a deep blue metamorphic rock used as a semi-precious stone that has been prized for thousands of years for its intense color.
  • History: The first known mining for lapis occurred in the Badakhshan Province of northeastern Afghanistan as early as 7000 BC. The lapis was used to make beads, small jewelry items, and small sculptures. These have been found at Neolithic archaeological sites dating back to about 3000 BC in Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Around this time, Lapis lazuli was greatly admired and valued higher than gold. When grounded to a fine powder and added to paint, it created the color Ultramarine Blue, which was used in some of the most beautiful and famous paintings in history.
  • Metaphysical Properties:  Lapis Lazuli is often referred as the “Stone of the Heaven”. Lapis Lazuli is the ancient stone of mental and psychological health.
  • Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead
