Description
- Approximate beads per strand: 45
- What is it: Dumortierite is an aluminium boro-silicate mineral. When dumortierite crystallizes, it forms fibrous, slender prismatic crystals. The crystals vary in color from brown, blue, and green and even violet and pink (very rare). Iron and other elements result in the color variations. It has a Mohs hardness of 7.
- History: Dumortierite was first noted in 1881 in Chaponost, in the Rhône-Alps of France and was named after the French paleontologist Eugène Dumortier (1803–1873).
- Metaphysical Properties: Dumortierite is believed to promote good karma and forgiveness, especially self-forgiveness. Said to be a good throat chakra stone, the blue dumortierite encourages the wearer to speak up for themself.
- Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead
