- What is it: Moonstone is a variety of the feldspar family. During formation, minerals separate into alternating layers. When light shines between these thin layers it is scattered producing the phenomenon called adularescence. Adularescence is the light that appears to billow across a gem. Other feldspar minerals can also show adularescence including labradorite and sanidine.
- History: Many cultures cherished moonstone, as they believed it was solidified rays from the Moon. Legends say that moonstone brings good luck. Some believed that they could see the future by holding a moonstone in their mouth during a full moon.
- Metaphysical Properties: Moonstone is a stone said to promote inner growth and strength. It soothes and stabilises emotions. Moonstone encourages inspiration in love and business.
- Because gemstones are natural materials, appearances may vary from bead to bead.
