- What is it: Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Mine is located in Globe, Arizona in America. Sleeping Beauty Turquoise is known for its beautiful deep blue color and produces many variations of blue Turquoise.
- History: The Navajo tool, called a Hohokam hammer, (dating back to 600 a.d.) were used for mining, polishing and finishing the turquoise. Using the hammers and other primitive tools, the Native Americans would cut the turquoise from the rock. The hammers are on display at the Mohave Museum of History and Arts and the Arizona State Museum in Phoenix.
