Jewelry Inspiration
At Bead World, we’re always fielding questions about how to find inspiration for new jewelry projects. It can be tricky because there are so many beautiful pieces of jewelry surrounding us in the world that we sometimes fall into a rut of seeing something we love and trying to reproduce it. While it’s great to pull inspiration from various sources, including other jewelry that we see, there’s a fine line between being inspired and copying another person’s design. We joke that there’s no such thing as a new idea when it comes to jewelry, but our world is so much more beautiful when we’re all doing our own unique creations based on what inspires each of us.

There are so many wonderful things in the world to pull inspiration from. In our first example, this gorgeous wooden landscape is a beautiful color inspiration for one of our tapestry herringbone bracelets.
.
This next example shows off a really cool necklace from J Ware. You could take the industrial inspiration from this necklace and use it to create chain tassel earrings, a metallic flat cellini bracelet with a hardware inspired look, or many other designs.

Love the colors of abalone? Use those colors as inspiration for another project like our deep waters leather wrap cuff bracelet shown here.
.
Landmarks and landscapes are another amazing inspiration source. Often times the most beautiful color combinations already exist in nature together. Have you ever looked at a sunset and thought about how gorgeous it is? Try using it as inspiration for a bead project! Each region & country also has its own unique style to inspire us. In this example you can see how our eastern treasures leather wrap bracelet is inspired by both the colors of India and the peaks of the architecture.

Beaches and oceans are another option for amazing color & texture inspirations!! The great part about ocean and beach inspiration is that there are so many different tones and shades that occur naturally that your jewelry could look completely different depending on what exactly you are inspired by. This tapestry herringbone bracelet pulls out the dark tones of the ocean at night, while still including the lighter portions from where the moon reflects on the waves.
This photo shows how you can mimic the texture of the waves in your beads like in our dyed fire agate beads.
This is another ocean photo, but the color pallette is very different from the first.

In this last example, the structure of this tree photo is a wonderful inspiration for a tree of life pendant, showing off the beauty of the tree trunk and branches.

We can’t wait to see what inspires you!!
