Barefoot Sandals Tutorial

It’s summertime and the living is easy…especially in these chic beaded Barefoot Sandals! Use our tutorial to dress up your toes this summer all summer long with Barefoot Sandals to match every outfit.

You will need:

Size 11 Miyuki or Toho seed beads (2 grams)

Size 6 Miyuki or Toho seed beads (15 grams)

SuperDuos (8)

4mm Czech fire polish (40)

6mm Czech fire polish (8)

8mm Czech fire polish (4)

0.7mm Stretch Magic, clear (52 inches)

1. Begin with two 26 inch pieces of elastic. String size 11 seed beads on a 26 inch piece of elastic.

2. String 3 ½ to 3 ¾ inches of the size 11 beads, depending on the length of your foot. (This step creates the toe loop. If you have a longer foot, you might prefer a longer toe loop.) Slide the beads to the middle of the elastic.

3. Pass the elastic through a SuperDuo, one strand through each hole.

4. On each strand of the elastic, string on the following beads: two size 11 beads, one 4mm fire polish bead, two size 11 seed beads. Pass the elastic through another SuperDuo, one strand through each hole.

5. On each strand of the elastic, string on the following beads: two size 11 beads, one 4mm fire polish bead, one size 6 seed beads, one 6mm fire polish bead, one size 6 seed bead, one 8mm fire polish bead, one size 6 seed bead, one 6mm fire polish bead, one size 6 seed bead, one 4mm fire polish bead, two size 11 beads.

6. Pass the elastic through another SuperDuo, one strand through each hole.

7. On each strand of the elastic, string on the following beads: two size 11 beads, one 4mm fire polish bead, two size 11 seed beads. Pass the elastic through a SuperDuo, one strand through each hole.

8. On one strand of the elastic, string on the following beads: two size 11 beads, one 4mm fire polish bead, ten size 6 seed beads. Then repeat this sequence on the other strand of elastic.

9. Continue adding beaded units of one 4mm fire polish beads and ten size 6 seed beads to each strand until you reach your desired length. Eight total beaded units should fit shoe sizes 7-9. You might want to use fewer beaded units if you have a smaller foot, or more if you have a larger foot. We have included enough beads for ten beaded units.

10. Tie the elastic tightly, using a traditional knot. Keep knotting in the same place until it’s very secure. We recommend at least three knots.

11. Carefully apply GS Hypo glue all around the knots.

12. Allow the glue to dry overnight before stretching it over your foot. Then cut off any excess elastic.

Repeat all steps to make the other sandal. Your finished Barefoot Sandals will look like this:
